DC Dame Ruth Ryder has generously invited DC Dames and families to this year’s Scottish Christmas Walk in Old Town Alexandria. A festive parade that kicks off the holiday season, the Scottish Walk is hosted by the Campagna Center, a non-profit organization serving women and children in Alexandria. The city was founded in 1749 by Scottish merchants and named after Scotsman John Alexander, who owned the land that became Alexandria. The city continues to celebrate this heritage with this iconic Scottish Walk, which includes members of dozens of Scottish clans dressed in colorful tartans parading through the streets of Old Town, joined by pipe and drum bands from around the region, terriers and hounds, and more. It's fun for all, so feel free to bring family or a guest.

Ruth Ryder has kindly invited us to view the parade from inside (or outside) her house located on the parade route. Mimosas and light refreshments will be served. Wear your best plaid scarf or favorite holiday sweater. Everyone is Scottish on Parade Day!

For Parking: Please come early for good parking in Public Parking Lots in Old Town. No parking is allowed along the parade route.

Suggested transport: Arrange Uber/Lyft/Cab for Drop-off near Ruth’s house.

The King Street Metro station is a half-mile walk away. Be sure to allow extra time on Metro.
